Punjab Unveils New School Timings for Ramadan 2025

LAHORE — As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, the Punjab Education Department has rolled out fresh school timings to make life easier for students and staff who will be fasting. Announced on February 24, 2025, these changes will take effect across all schools in Punjab, ensuring everyone can balance education and spiritual observance. With the Ramadan moon sighting just days away, this move reflects the province’s effort to support its millions of residents during this sacred time.

The Punjab Education Department shared the new plan through an official notification, tweaking school hours to fit the fasting routine. For schools running a single shift, classes will start at 8:30 a.m. and wrap up at 1:00 p.m. from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, the day will end a bit earlier at 12:30 p.m., giving students and teachers a shorter schedule to prepare for prayers and rest. Schools with double shifts have their own setup: the first shift runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon, while the second shift goes from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. On Fridays, that second shift stretches slightly, ending at 5:00 p.m. to accommodate the day’s unique rhythm.

One special touch stands out: female students will head home 15 minutes earlier than the official closing time each day. This small adjustment aims to ease their journey home, especially as many will be fasting and managing family duties during Ramadan.
